What is an FPS checker?
An FPS checker measures the frame rate your device is delivering right now. This one runs a fixed ten second sample in your browser and hands back a single set of numbers — no install, no account, no game required.
Is my result good?
Compare it to your refresh rate. A browser cannot draw faster than your screen refreshes, so matching your panel is a full score:

Why does the 1% low matter more than the average?
Two machines can both average 60 FPS and feel completely different. The 1% low is the average of your worst 1% of frames, and it is the closest single number to what stutter actually feels like.
Why is my FPS lower than expected?
- The laptop is on battery. Check this first. Plenty of machines halve the refresh rate the moment you unplug.
- The window is on the wrong screen. Drag it onto the fast monitor and check again.
- Hardware acceleration is off. Every browser has the setting, and it gets switched off by troubleshooting guides.
- Something else is busy. A video call, a launcher updating, thirty tabs.
- The machine is hot. Thermal throttling is gradual and invisible. Cold reads higher than warm.
FAQ
Common questions
How long should I run the check?
Ten seconds gives a usable average. Thirty gives a trustworthy 1% low, because the lows need a bigger sample before they settle.
Why is my FPS exactly 60 on a 144 Hz monitor?
Usually the window is on a second 60 Hz display, the machine is on battery, or the browser has fallen back to software rendering. Check those three in that order.
Can I check the FPS of a game with this?
No. A web page cannot see inside another application. Use the overlay built into your GPU driver or the game itself.
Why is the result different in Chrome and Firefox?
Browsers schedule and composite frames differently. A few FPS between browsers on the same machine is normal.
What counts as a dropped frame?
A gap long enough that another frame should have fitted inside it. On a 60 Hz screen, a 34 ms gap means one frame went missing.
